Gem State Students Bond
at Camp Ida-Haven

As Gem State faculty and students loaded blankets, pillows and travel gear into the bus, some looked around discreetly to get a glimpse of the newcomers. Others greeted one another with hugs and high-fives. This was the first day of school, and they were heading for Camp Ida-Haven.

Students and faculty played together—there was chess on the giant board, wakeboarding, riding the banana boat, and beach volleyball. The bravest chose the challenge course or the zip line.

The school family began and ended the day with worship in the outdoor cathedral. There was also the traditional handshake, orientation for new students, and the Student Association Olympics—where the freshmen led the winning events!

Junior Jessica Wolfe says "What a great way to begin a new school year—spiritually refreshed and tightly bonded."
